Behind the Design

Charlie Brown Christmas is a fun and timeless holiday classic that really lets you bring back your kid side. I wanted to pull from the original cartoons and try to keep the design as flat as possible. I was able to do this by using saturated warm and cool colors to show both the loneliness Charlie Brown felt in the beginning and the warmth of Christmas he felt at the end of the show. Though present the entire show, during the show the texture wash I had with a R14 Gel inside increased in brightness throughout the show. Allowing for that warm to take over showing the progression from Lonely to fully feeling the holiday spirit with his friends. In every show I design I always try to include as many practicals as I can to try and fully engulf the room with lighting. The practicals for this show included a regular christmas tree for the preshow, Snoopy's dog house decorations, and a Pink and shiny aluminum Christmas tree!
